"Demeter Prelude" on Heights Arts Close Encounters series

  • Dunham Tavern 6709 Euclid Avenue Cleveland, OH, 44103 United States (map)

Our second concert of our Close Encounters chamber music series.
After the success of our first We Too program, our second features four First Ladies in Classical Music: string quartets by the first woman chosen to perform for Abraham Lincoln, the first female composer-in-residence at CIM, the first woman instrumentalist in a major orchestra, plus a brand-new clarinet quintet by a young New York composer, Anna Weesner, recipient of a 2009 Guggenheim Fellowship and a 2008 award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Mari Sato, for 23 years violinist in the Cavani String Quartet, will guide us through these selections.
